Just Recently stepping fresh off the runway from The Savage x Fenty Runway shoe for Rihanna in NY fashion, Taja Riley is no stranger to the performance world. Born in NY, raised in Virginia, Taja Riley started training extensively in the performance world at age 7, under the mentorship of Travis Wall, and Denise Wall. After earning her title as national best dancer in the country at age 15, she begin to start her professional dance career, assisting many industry professionals, Brian Friedman, Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, and Ivan Koumaev just to name a few. She moved out to LA at the ripe age of 16, and landed her first big job with Janet Jackson shortly after. Her credits go on to include Beyonce, Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, Nicole Scherzinger, NERD / Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Missy Elliott, Brandy, Annie Lennox, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Diddy, Pitbull, Ne-Yo, 50 cent and many more. She has had a professional career in Burlesque, TV/FILM, Choreography, Movement Direction, Industrials, Animation, and Movie Musicals. You can find her work on Tayla Parx, Demi Lovato, Britney Spears, Tyler Perry Films, and much more to be released in the future. Taja continues to expand her career as an entity of the arts, and plans to continue spreading her knowledge on her perspective and experiences growing up with eyes for entertainment.
Taja is trained technically in the styles Ballet , Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, African, Hip-Hop, and Ballroom, but of course features her class around her training in Hip-hop/ Commercial Dance. Her 90min class contains a stretch and warm-up involving isolations, conditioning, and a little bit of grooving to help get the body geared up for choreography. Her choreography process is driven by the music and usually involves the marriage of musicality, and dynamic changes in texture of her movement, while igniting the performance quality in her students. Currently, she is gearing her new choreography works and classes towards helping this generation tap into their inner artist, "getting the gig" scenarios, equipping them with the knowledge, and transforming who they are within, as images of art. Aside from her combinations, Taja's most effective and important part of class is her inspirational speaking. Motivating the students not only through moves, but in relation to life is what pushes her students, and what ultimately helps her connect and share her joy for performing.
